Resilience is the ability to recover from hard situations and bounce back to our ‘normal‘ state. Life can be hard and testing.

Unfortunately life makes us more resilient. Some of us unfortunately have gone through more tough times than not to make us more resilient. But it’s only through hardship, challenges and grief where we learn to be more resilient, both mentally and emotionally.

Our muscles work in the same way. The more load we put on our bodies the more damage we cause the muscles (from training), the more resilient it becomes, the more you’re able to train it and get stronger. Through this process not only will our bodies get stronger, our minds will learn to tolerate the pain of exercise better – because let’s face it exercise is hard and can hurt!

Resilience is a big factor to work on when taking on your exercise regime. It can be worked and challenged constantly.

Your body will only become more resilient when you put it under more load, push yourself more and do more (within reason and structure of course).

You may feel broken mentally and physically after that hard session but remember it’s where the growth is.
